Further information

On our tour of Diocletian's Palace and the old town of Split, you will embark on an entertaining journey through the eventful history of Split and Dalmatia. From Romans to Hungarians, Venetians, French and Austrians, each civilization has left their unique imprint on this beautiful city!

The well-preserved cellars of Diocletian's Palace date back more than 1700 years. Explore this ancient underground world that tells a unique story of the palace's history.

The Peristyle, located in the heart of Diocletian's Palace served as a sacred gathering place where Emperor Diocletian presented himself as the son of the Roman god Jupiter and was worshipped by his subjects. Today, it remains a stunning example of ancient Roman architecture and a popular spot for tourists to visit.

Originally intended as the final resting place of Emperor Diocletian, Split Cathedral was transformed into a majestic place of worship during the Christianization of the city. Visitors can now admire the striking mix of Roman and Christian architecture inside.

Step into the ancient temple of Jupiter, transformed into a stunning baptistery with a remarkable coffered ceiling. This architectural masterpiece has even influenced Renaissance architects in Dalmatia. Take a moment to appreciate the intricate details and imagine the history that has unfolded within these sacred walls.

Narodni trg, also known as Pjaca, has been the heart of Split since the Middle Ages and continues to be a bustling center of activity today. Surrounded by charming old Venetian palaces, it's home to the city's historic town hall, built in a striking neo-Gothic style.

We end our tour in the beautiful Prokurative, a square reminiscent of St. Mark's Square in Venice. The square is lined with numerous cafes and restaurants, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of Split.

These are just some of the attractions you will see on our tour of Diocletian's Palace and the old town of Split.
